She laid on her back while they examined her ribcage.
She stared like a doll into the ceiling lights as they toke her heart from her open chest;
Her mouth cracked like a door frame.
She rested like a child.
They stood over her body with blood stained jackets.
The smell of her skin, the way her fingers pointed to the heavens. stopped them.
They saw beauty on the corners table and didn’t know what to say..
Shards of glass and jewelry and The scalpel just screamed her name
I watched power lines fall and start fires across her dress.
I heard windshields shatter. A car bend into pieces.
I witnessed my best friend die.. I held her hand as her wounds cried..
And all I could say is
I want you to be perfect..
So, just close your eyes and hum to me!
I promise you, I will sit here and make sure nothing harms you… I’ll run my fingers through your hair and try to clean you up…
Just promise me you’ll sing to me!
As your soul leaves your body.. Float away from me Jamie..
And be perfect. As always!
